Monday Harvet 3/4/13

Another great week.  Lots coming out of the garden.  Warm weather, 85 degrees both Friday and Saturday, however no rain!  Might get lucky at the end of the week.

Cooked up the beets this week, pretty good

Lots of green, gave away 4 bags of lettuce, chard, spinach and kale this week to friends.

Tangelos, Mandarine, Fuerte & Hass Avocados, and of course eggs.

Finally started digging up the potatoes.  These were some that I missed last year, every time I turned the dirt with the pitchfork I came up with these golden nuggets.

The ladies out for a Sunday afternoon stroll.

  2. Beautiful harvest! Love your chickens! Wish I could have some! Looks like you are getting a great variety this time of year. I could definitely enjoy all you are growing!

  3. Isn't it wonderful to get "bonus" potatoes? I'm so envious of the fruits you can grow in CA. I didn't think twice about it when I lived in CA and had grapefruit, orange, and lemon trees in the backyard (with plenty of fruit just going to waste - this was my "before gardening/cooking days"...).

  4. What kind of chicken is that in the back right of the photo? She's a beauty!

    1. She's an Andalusian Blue. She is one of the youngest, but has been giving us an egg a day so far.

  5. Oh how I love mandarins. Of course here I only get them from the store, but they are so so good.

  6. I'm so jealous of your citrus and avocado! Your ladies are beautiful. They're just not practical for my yard with dogs, plus I have enough trouble getting the dogs cared for if we're gone overnight or longer. Can't imagine finding somebody to take care of the chickens, too. Still, I wish...
